As each "glass plane" is passed through the octaherdon, the octrahedron is sliced into parts. The plane is passed parallel to one of the faces. The number and type of parts are what is of intrest. | This shows the planes being left in the octahedron so you can better visualize how the solid is being sliced by the four "glass planes". |
Hmmm, I still can't see what is really going on. Are you having the same problem? Here is another way to look at the decomposition of the octrahedra. We will take it apart, piece by piece.
